You know why?

Because no matter how many disasters we have, we still say that we're lucky.

For example:

If someone rode on his motorbike and fell, he got scratches everywhere and his pants were ripped, he'll say, "Lucky I've only got scratches, not a broken bone. And lucky this pants isn't new."

Well, if he got broken bones in the accident, he'll say, "Lucky I only broke my bones, not have them amputated."

If he got his leg amputated, "Lucky there's only one leg that's been amputated, not both of them."

If he got both legs amputated "I'm still lucky I'm not paralyzed..."

If he's paralyzed, "Lucky I'm still alive..."

If he's dead, his family will say, "Lucky he's not suffering for being a veggie for the rest of his life."

Well, that's an extreme example, but honestly, Indonesians are like that. We're very optimistic people. Even I, who once lost my money approximately Rp 300.000 (around $30), said, "Lucky I didn't take a million from ATM, if not, I might lose them all..." Hahahahaha!!!

This kind of attitude made us survived for 350 + 3,5 years of colonialism, slavery, and human rights violations. We hold no grudge to the country that once colonized us, we even adore one of them (Japan that is... ^^;)

Idiots, you may say. But we're still the optimistic type.

Even though life sucks, my salary is a little below average, poverty everywhere, the government is so lame working on about it. We're still happy.

Because we are, the luckiest people in the world. ^^
